The inauguration of Nausena Bhawan, the newly constructed Headquarters of the Indian Navy in Delhi Cantt., took place on March 15, 2024, officiated by Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh. This milestone signifies the establishment of the Navy’s inaugural independent headquarters in Delhi.
Previously, the Navy operated from 13 different locations, necessitating a consolidated and purpose-built facility like Nausena Bhawan. Its architectural design was meticulously chosen through a nationwide competition, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Spanning four stories across three wings, the building incorporates innovative construction techniques for enhanced efficiency and sustainability.
Efforts toward energy and water conservation are evident throughout the complex, with solar generation systems and advanced building materials. The Hybrid Reinforced Cement Concrete Construction system allows for swift construction of large spans, while the design integrates natural elements through landscaped gardens and internal courtyards.
Internally, Nausena Bhawan provides a comfortable environment facilitated by a Central Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning system employing Advanced Oxidation Plasma technology. Additionally, it features a state-of-the-art Integrated Building Management System for efficient coordination and monitoring of security services and utility systems.
The building has earned a Green Rating IV under the Integrated Habitability Assessment, showcasing its commitment to sustainability. Furthermore, it boasts a comprehensive three-tier security system, incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as Automatic Underbelly scanning of vehicles, Power fence, Face Recognition Cameras, Bollards, Vehicle Stoppers, Access Control, and Security Cameras.
Equipped with extensive IT infrastructure supported by UPS systems, Nausena Bhawan promotes a paperless work environment and meets the stringent network requirements of the Navy. The inauguration signifies a significant advancement for the Indian Navy, providing a centralized and technologically advanced headquarters reflective of the nation’s dedication to maritime excellence and national security.
