During the visit, Admiral R. Hari Kumar participated in various activities within the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. These included the CNS day at sea, during which he assessed naval operations and interacted with officers and sailors aboard ships and aircraft. As part of his farewell visit, the CNS engaged in candid discussions with naval personnel at the Samudrika Auditorium through the “Connect with CNS” event to grasp grassroots challenges. Earlier, he also conversed with Defence Civilian personnel at the Meghadri Auditorium, Naval Dockyard, on March 21, 2024.
An important highlight was the inauguration of the ‘Veeram’ accommodation block for Defence Security Corps (DSC) personnel at Naushakti Nagar, Visakhapatnam, on March 21, 2024. Additionally, the CNS awarded INS Sumitra with a Unit Citation for its successful Anti-Piracy Operations in the Central Arabian Sea, which included apprehending Somali Pirates and rescuing Iranian and Pakistani nationals from hijacked vessels.
During the visit, the CNS chaired the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NGIF/INBA and the Navy Foundation, fostering discussions for enhancing naval personnel welfare. As President of the Navy Foundation, he also presided over the 31st AGM and GCM, addressing concerns raised by veterans and assuring expedient resolutions. An event called “Samanvay,” facilitating discussions between Navy Foundation (NF) Chapters and Veteran Sailors Forum (VSF) Charters, was held on March 22, 2024, under the Chairmanship of CPS.
