Indian Naval Ships Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan conducted a visit to Singapore from May 6th to May 9th, 2024, focusing on bilateral engagements, discussions on mutual interests, and cooperation, while reiterating the commitment to bolster maritime security and stability in the area. This visit aligns with the Operational Deployment of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet to the South China Sea.
Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, along with the Commanding Officers of the ships, engaged with the Fleet Commander of the Republic of Singapore Navy at the Singapore Naval Headquarters. The visit facilitated discussions aimed at enhancing naval cooperation and interoperability between the two countries. An onboard reception on INS Shakti allowed personnel from both navies, the Indian diaspora in Singapore, and the local diplomatic community to interact, strengthening bonds of friendship and mutual respect.
As part of the Indian Navy’s dedication to maritime education and outreach, local school children were invited to visit the Indian Ships. They received guided tours, learning about naval operations, India’s maritime history, heritage, and the significance of maritime security. These engagements aim to inspire the younger generation and foster a deeper understanding of maritime affairs. Additionally, personnel from both navies participated in cross-ship visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE), and other professional interactions.
