The Indian Air Force (IAF) embarked on a groundbreaking digital transformation journey by integrating with the DigiLocker platform, a flagship initiative of the Digital India program, on April 26, 2024. At a ceremonial event held at Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan, the IAF and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) formalized a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to utilize DigiLocker’s secure and accessible document repository services.
This pioneering integration will revolutionize the issuance, access, and verification of critical service documents for IAF personnel, both serving and retired, through digital means. By leveraging advanced technology, the IAF reaffirms its dedication to data security, operational efficiency, and seamless information access.
Key Highlights:
- Authorized IAF departments and divisions can seamlessly upload digital records, certificates, and essential documents to the national DigiLocker repository, ensuring secure storage and easy accessibility.
- IAF officers will directly access crucial documents like the Certificate of Service (COS) and Service Book Officers (SBO) through their personal DigiLocker wallets, facilitating convenient retrieval and verification.
- Integration with DigiLocker will streamline various IAF processes, including Agniveer Vayu recruitment, where academic document verification for candidates will occur digitally, enhancing transparency and credibility.
- The MoU was signed between Air Vice Marshal Phillip Thomas, ACAS (PO) IAF, and Shri Akash Tripathi, President & CEO, NeGD, MeitY, symbolizing collaborative efforts toward digital empowerment.
