On May 11, 2024, International Nurses Day was celebrated at Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (R & R). Maj Gen Kanwarjit Singh, Offg Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Maj Gen Sheena P D, Principal Matron, extended a warm welcome to the attendees.
International Nurses Day is observed worldwide annually on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, recognizing the invaluable contributions of nurses to society.
This year, the International Council of Nurses designated the theme as ‘Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power of Care,’ unveiled by Maj Gen I D Flora, Addl DGMNS. To mark the occasion, a debate on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Nursing: Boon or a Bane’ and a panel discussion on the theme were organized. Eminent panelists deliberated on various topics, including challenges in the nursing profession, strategies to empower nurses, their leadership roles, nursing education, digitalization in healthcare, and nurse burnout.
The Chief Guest honored the panelists and presented Appreciation certificates to meritorious Nursing Officers. Capt Deepa Shajan received the prestigious Pushpnaranjan Award. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest encouraged attendees to uphold the professional standards and ethos exemplified by Military Nursing Officers. He commended the dedication of MNS Officers, who tirelessly provide compassionate care to patients in round-the-clock shifts.
