In a meticulously planned anti-narcotics operation at sea on April 28, 2024, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), collaborating with the Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), seized 86 kg of narcotics valued at Rs 600 crore and apprehended 14 crew members from a Pakistani vessel.
Operating aboard the ICG ship Rajratan, accompanied by ATS and NCB officials, the team successfully identified the suspect boat despite attempts to evade detection. The swift response of the Rajratan, aided by a fleet of ships and aircraft engaged in concurrent missions, left no avenue for escape for the drug-laden vessel. The specialist team from the ship boarded the suspect boat and, following thorough checks, confirmed the presence of a substantial quantity of narcotics. Both the crew and the vessel are currently being escorted to Porbandar for further investigation and legal proceedings.
This successful collaboration between the ICG and ATS, resulting in eleven such law enforcement operations over the past three years, underscores the synergy achieved in pursuit of national objectives.
