Indian Navy Hosts Mental Health Workshop as Part of 60-Day Resilience Programme

RESILIENCE PROGRAMME

The Indian Navy organized a transformative workshop on ‘Self-Transformation and Inner Awakening,’ led by the internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher, Sister BK Shivani, on January 7, 2025, at the Dr. DS Kothari Auditorium, DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi. The event aimed to enhance the mental and emotional resilience of Naval personnel and was graced by Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh, Chief of Materiel, as the Chief Guest.

The workshop began with a welcome address, followed by a two-hour session by Sister BK Shivani. It addressed the growing need for mental health awareness and provided practical tools to foster emotional balance, particularly for Naval personnel in high-pressure roles.

Sister BK Shivani captivated the audience with her deep insights into the workings of the mind and the significance of inner harmony. Her interactive session focused on identifying the root causes of mental stress and offered strategies for overcoming it through self-awareness, meditation, and positive thinking. She emphasized that mental health begins with our thoughts, and by choosing peaceful, empowering, and positive thoughts, individuals can transform their experiences and create a healthier, happier life.

In his concluding remarks, Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh commended the initiative and highlighted the critical role of mental health in achieving both professional and personal fulfillment. He stressed that the mental well-being of Naval personnel is essential for fostering a cohesive and peaceful work environment. The Chief of Materiel also expressed his gratitude to Sister BK Shivani for her dedication to mental health advocacy and encouraged attendees to integrate the workshop’s teachings into their daily lives.

This workshop was part of the Indian Navy’s 60-day Resilience Programme, which aims to promote mental health and inner harmony among Naval personnel and their families. It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental well-being, inspiring participants to lead with mindfulness and positivity. The event was attended by Naval officers, sailors, and defense civilians.

The overwhelming success of the workshop reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to holistic well-being and operational excellence. To reach a broader audience, the event was live-streamed on the Indian Navy’s official YouTube channel, allowing many to benefit from this enriching session.
