Two Indian Naval vessels, Delhi and Shakti, led by Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, have arrived in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, as part of the Indian Navy’s Operational Deployment. They were warmly received by the Royal Malaysian Navy and the High Commission of India in Malaysia.
During their stay, personnel from both Indian and Malaysian Navies will participate in various professional activities, including Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) sessions, yoga, sports events, and cross-deck visits. These interactions aim to strengthen the existing cooperation and understanding between the two Navies.
After the port visit, the Indian Navy ships will engage in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX)/PASSEX with Royal Malaysian Navy vessels at sea, enhancing interoperability between the two Navies, as highlighted during MILAN 2024 and Ex Samudra Lakshmana 2024.
This visit further solidifies the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two maritime neighbors through various engagements. It also underscores the Indian Navy’s commitment to the ‘Act East’ and SAGAR policies of the Indian Government.
INS Delhi, the first indigenously designed and built Project-15 class guided missile destroyer, and INS Shakti, a Fleet Support Ship, both belong to the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet.
