A delegation of three members from the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), led by Cdr Hazem I Maitah, visited the Southern Naval Command, Kochi, and the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, from April 29 to May 4, 2024. This inaugural visit aimed at fostering military training exchanges, following discussions initiated during the second consultative meeting on defense cooperation between the two nations in March 2023. During their time at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi, the delegation toured various training facilities, engaged in professional interactions, and observed demonstrations of VBSS & Diving Ops. They also received a guided tour of the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the ship repair facilities at Cochin Shipyard Ltd. Interactions with Cmde Sritanu Guru, Cmde Training, Southern Naval Command, focused on potential avenues for collaboration in Naval training and professional courses between the Indian Navy & Jordan Armed Forces.
At the Indian Naval Academy, the delegation met with VAdm Vineet McCarty, Commandant of INA, exchanging insights on training methodologies, leadership strategies, and operational experiences. They were given an overview of the Academy’s state-of-the-art training facilities and participated in discussions on best practices. This visit of the Jordan Armed Forces Training Delegation signifies a significant advancement in the collaboration between the Indian Navy and the Jordan Armed Forces, within the broader framework of defense cooperation between the two nations.
