Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has given his approval for a financial incentive dedicated to the Armed Forces personnel who achieved medals in the 19th Asian Games and 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China, during September-October 2023. The cash rewards for both the Asian Games and Asian Para Games are structured as follows: Gold medal winners will be granted Rs 25 lakh each, Silver medal winners Rs 15 lakh each, and Bronze medal winners Rs 10 lakh each.
The distinguished performance of several Service athletes in the Games garnered praise from the Raksha Mantri, who felicitated them upon their return. Recognizing their outstanding achievements, he sanctioned cash rewards for a total of 45 medal winners, including seven Para athletes. These athletes secured 09 Gold, 18 Silver, and 17 Bronze medals in the Asian Games, along with 01 Gold, 04 Silver, and 02 Bronze medals in the Asian Para Games.
This financial incentive, a first from the Ministry of Defence for Armed Forces personnel, is expected to serve as a motivational boost for these athletes as they continue their preparations for the qualifying events leading up to the Paris Olympics Games 2024, encouraging them to strive for even greater performances.
