The First Training Squadron (1TS), consisting of INS Tir and CGS Sarathi, wrapped up their visit to Port Louis, Mauritius, as part of their Long Range Training Deployment. The visit coincided with Mauritius’ 57th National Day celebrations, emphasizing the strong maritime bonds between India and Mauritius. During the festivities, a naval contingent and a helicopter took part in the city parade, attended by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Hon’ble President of India, as the Chief Guest.
The visit proved invaluable for Indian Naval trainees, who had the opportunity to tour the Maritime Air Squadron and Police Helicopter Squadron of Mauritius. As part of a cross-training initiative, National Coast Guard personnel from Mauritius received training in small arms handling and firefighting aboard 1TS ships. The visit concluded with PASSEX and VBSS exercises, further improving interoperability. Prior to their arrival in Port Louis, 1TS and the Mauritius Coast Guard conducted joint EEZ surveillance.
This visit underscores the mutual commitment to regional security and highlights the rich cultural and diplomatic connections between India and Mauritius.
