41st Steering Committee of International Partnership discusses Green Hydrogen Deployment

The 41st Steering Committee Meeting of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE), hosted by India in New Delhi from March 18 to 22, 2024, commenced formal proceedings on March 19 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan.

During the opening session, Vice Chair Dr. Noe Van Hulst praised India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and acknowledged India’s warm hospitality. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Ajay Yadav emphasized the importance of utilizing Green Hydrogen for decarbonizing the economy and stressed collaborative efforts.

Delegates from various countries, including Austria, Chile, France, Japan, and the US, joined Indian delegates to discuss Green Hydrogen deployment. They explored global initiatives like Glasgow Breakthrough Agenda, Clean Energy Ministerial, and G7 Hydrogen Action Pact for collaboration.

The Committee reviewed progress made by working groups and task forces, providing suggestions for strengthening their work. Working groups cover topics like Regulations, Codes, Standards & Safety, while task forces focus on Hydrogen Skills and Trade Rules.

The Committee also discussed IPHE’s vision and roadmap for the short and medium term and highlighted the role of WTO in facilitating international trade in Hydrogen.

Proceedings will continue on March 20, 2024. The first day included an IPHE Academic Outreach event at IIT Delhi, where delegates shared insights into hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
